Lower Jurassic, Lower Lias
Lyme Regis, Dorset, UK
This is a well preserved specimen on a nice shard of rock, the specimen is a Yellow calcite colour with a dark mottled brown body chamber. What is interesting is that there is a section of the living chamber that has an obvious pathology. A really attractive specimen from what is locally known as a woodstone. There is also a Cymbites and a couple of Promicroceras in the same block
The Asteroceras measures 3.8 inches across or 9.5cm across.
