Brittlestar, Ophiuroidea sp
El Kaid, Morocco
This is a very attractive specimen with lots of fine detail, the fossil is preserved in a coating of Limonite which gives the fossils its orange colouration. Like most of the larger Starfish from this location it was found in 2 sections and glued back togther.
The matrix measures approx 22cm x 22cm (the brittlestar is 15.1.cm at the widest, and would be much bigger if the limbs were outstretched)
